6+ HOURS OF BREWERY TOURING AND AXE THROWING
This tour was great fun and informative right from the get go! From the early start on to axe throwing at the Maniax facility with the friendly giant Redbeard, any qualms from the early alarm were quickly whittled away by hoiking a tomahawk at a target. Much insight into the processes involved from the beginning to end and more selections of delicious beer to sample at the same time. Thanks Dave's Brewery Tours!Matt PeasleyReview from Tripadvisor
Saturday morning we were met by a friendly face at a pub in Surry hills. That face belonged to Jamie who proved to be the best tour dude I've met. It took a couple of beers and axe battles to get to know everyone else on the tour but once we did it was just like a bunch of mates cruising the inner west with Jamie who has the low down on the best breweries and beers we NEED to get into. Highly recommend this to everyone!Graham TReview from Tripadvisor
SOME OF THE PLACES
YOU WILL GO*
Experience the thrill of Sydney’s newest and most exciting sport – Urban Axe throwing! The Maniax pros will teach you the skill of axe throwing, followed by a competition to crown the champion. The prize? Bragging rights for the rest of the day!
Passionate homebrewers and simply good blokes, Pat and Nick of Willie the Boatman have pieced together their urban ‘eBay’ brewery within an abandoned paint factory, winning over the locals with their beers and banter over the bar. We get an inside look at how a 3rd generation brewery operates and learn how the beers and the brewery got their names.
Next stop, lunch at The Henson at Marrickville, an old school pub renowned for its excellent food and extensive craft beer offering. Why not try their famous ‘Knuckle Sandwich’? Wagyu brisket on rye with fennel coleslaw, Swiss cheese and smoky mayo. Awesome.
With their ever changing line up of fresh beer, Marrickville’s Batch Brewing Co. have become something of a local beer-nerd nirvana. Brewing from a converted a smash repair shop, US Expats Andrew and Chris have high rotation of fresh brews on offer. Our tip? If there’s an IPA on offer, take it!
Led by fifth and sixth generation convict descendants, the guys behind The Rocks have thrown their all into setting up one of the most advanced breweries in town. Explore the brewhouse and get up close to their brewing equipment as you sample beers straight from the tank.
Part of the local scene since 1927 and one of our favourite city pubs, The RAH offers a stunning array of craft beers and ciders with true local pub hospitality. Well known for its Tap Takeovers where a craft brewer gets exclusive access to their eight taps and two hand pumps, it is the perfect place to end the day.
WHEN YOU CAN GO
*On this tour you will visit 2 breweries, have an awesome lunch at a cool pub and of course throw some axes. Which breweries we visit on which day does change – not all places are open every day, and some places are good on Wednesdays, but not on Tuesdays… Which breweries we visit is all about timing and providing a good mix of places, people and beers.
Number of guest per tour – This tour accommodates a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 10 guests (get in touch for information on larger group sizes). Your order will be confirmed once we have filled 6 seats on the tour.
SOMETIMES THINGS CHANGE – Because our tours are truly behind the scenes experiences sometimes our plans need to change to accommodate brewery operations. And sometimes we just know about beer goings on around town that are worth checking out, so we may change some parts of our tours. Whilst these changes are rare, we do reserve the right to make them. If you do have a MUST SEE beer spot, please let us know when making your booking and we’ll do all we can to make it happen.
