Gets you behind the scenes of Sydney’s beer & wine production scene
YES, WE HAVE A WINERY RIGHT ON THE EDGE OF THE CITY
And we reckon being able to visit and learn about both beer and wine in one afternoon is truly a taste of Sydney.
SOME OF THE PLACES
YOU WILL GO*
With a commitment to Serving the People, the tattoo-clad team behind Young Henrys are all about bringing locally brewed beer to the Inner West. Their authentic community feel is ever present in the brewery and tasting bar, where we delve deep behind the scenes and work our way through their range of beers.
Passionate homebrewers and simply good blokes, Pat and Nick of Willie the Boatman have pieced together their urban ‘eBay’ brewery within an abandoned paint factory, winning over the locals with their beers and banter over the bar. We get an inside look at how a 3rd generation brewery operates and learn how the beers and the brewery got their names.
With their ever changing line up of fresh beer, Marrickville’s Batch Brewing Co. have become something of a local beer-nerd nirvana. Brewing from a converted a smash repair shop, US Expats Andrew and Chris have high rotation of fresh brews on offer. Our tip? If there’s an IPA on offer, take it!
Led by fifth and sixth generation convict descendants, the guys behind The Rocks have thrown their all into setting up one of the most advanced breweries in town. Explore the brewhouse and get up close to their brewing equipment as you sample beers straight from the tank.
Urban Winery Sydney is a fully-functioning city-based commercial winery, with a cellar door in Sydney’s inner west suburb of St Peters. It is a commercial winery that processes at least 50 tonnes of grapes annually. Taste directly from the barrel, learn all about making wine in town and enjoy as we sit back and explore their range.
WHEN YOU CAN GO
*WHERE WE GO EACH DAY CAN CHANGE – Whilst we would love all our breweries to open everyday, not all can. And because our tours are truly behind the scenes experiences sometimes our plans need to change to accommodate brewery operations. Whatever happens, rest assured you will get to experience our local beer scene at its best with a guaranteed visit to two of the hottest local beer spots around. And of course, there’s the added awesomeness of visiting Australia’s first urban winery.
